Meet Peter Olmsted

Peter Olmsted is one of Cincinnati’s most successful and experienced corporate executives focused on the recruitment and development of leadership talent. As the Senior Vice President of General Cable (NYSE:BGC), a Fortune 350 company with 19,000 associates worldwide, he spearheaded the major international executive and management recruitment program that built a full bench of talent during General Cable’s most explosive decade of growth. Named to the senior team that propelled the company out of near-bankruptcy in 2001, Peter instituted programs to attract, retain and develop a new generation of leadership at the company during a period when the company quadrupled in revenue to $6 billion and led its sector in profit growth and market capitalization.

Peter has deep experience in recruitment, management development, succession planning, executive coaching and compensation, with a track record of success in integrating management development programs into corporate growth strategies. Prior to his senior position at General Cable, Peter generated similar success with Formica Corporation, where he led initiatives to forge a new world-class management team that delivered significant improvements in sales and profitability. Peter also played a key role in readying the business for a successful sale to a new group of private investors in 1998.

Peter is experienced in working directly with corporate governance and compensation committees to shape the talent and experience profile of future executive teams and ensure their performance-based progression and development.

His unique international experience, intimate involvement in corporate strategy and keen insights into the market for new executive talent make him a sought-after resource for both client companies and executive talent in this region. His senior leadership roles with Formica and General Cable give him solid credentials to engage with corporate clients on their strategic leadership needs, and his track record of success in leadership development, succession planning and executive coaching gives placed executives a unique edge, knowing that they can draw upon his proven counsel and support as they position for new career opportunities.
